Welcome to my web page. My name is Mrs. Sciolino, I am the Reading Coach at Waterfront school.  My main job is to assist all teachers at Waterfront in successfully implementing our reading programs.  There are a variety of reading programs used in the Buffalo Public Schools.  Our core program is Harcourt Trophies.  Within this program, there are a variety of supplemental and intervention strategies that are used to address different levels of learning.  In addition to Harcourt, at the kindergarten level, a program called Language for Learning is used.  This program addresses early language skills for kindergarten students.  At the 1st and 2nd grade level,  along with Harcourt, a Direct Instruction intervention program is used called Reading Mastery, which addresses phonemic awareness and other early reading skills.  At the 3rd through 6th grade level, a Direct Instruction intervention program called Corrective Reading is used.  Corrective Reading analyzes specific reading skills in order to increase student's fluency and comprehension.
