Mission Statement:
In order to fulfill the district's mission, the Department of Family and Community Engagement will provide support and resources to engage families in partnership with schools, District, and the community.
Buffalo Public Schools Department of Family and Community Engagement Definition:
Active voice, involvement, and presence of parents, families, and community members working with all in school, home and/or community to ensure ongoing student learning, wellness and development.
The Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships
Family engagement is a critical component to student success. The Buffalo Public Schools utilize the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships developed by Dr. Karen Mapp. This family engagement framework provides opportunities for inter-departmental collaboration to build trust; ensuring families and community members are co-creators during school-based and District-level planning.
