  • A Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching (CLRT) Curriculum serves as the framework for the My Brother’s Keeper Male Academy program.  Through this method of teaching, scholars learn about their own history, social justice, and are able to see themselves in the curriculum.  Culturally relevant field trips which include college tours, museum visits, camping, and local cultural institutions provide the scholars with opportunities for experiences within and outside of their local communities.  Hip-hop literacy and technology integration are also embedded into the program to promote scholars’ voices in advocating for social justice and 21st century technology skills.  Scholars also take part leadership development and learn about civic responsibilities through mentoring relationships and community service activities.  All of these components combined support scholars with achieving their own academic and personal commitment goals.
